SERIES: BUHARISM AND THE SWIFT URGENCY OF NOW

Can Nigerians not yet see that the children of today's Generals, serving and retired already form the next generation of the nation's Generals?.The names of their General-fathers are the yardsticks by which competitive performance, military intelligence and strategy are measured in the armed forces and the police of today in Nigeria. This is how best to run a national institution!

PART TWO (continued from 21/10/17).

BUHARISM AND THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW

CONFLICT OF INTEREST, THE ABUSE OF OFFICE AND THE CANNIBALIZATION OF THE FUTURE

"The police should relate with the public, but not as in partnering to establish a broadcaster, buy the police operational vehicles, build barracks, doing actual business together as pooling resources together to do business, doing such other dirty deals, save training and development, payment of  their salaries by private citzens who of course, without mincing words are thieves, amongst them those still stealing the nation blind, and the ex-robbers, ex-drug pushers, ex-kidnappers who have now veered into seeming legitimate businesses."

The United States of America designates every October as ‘’National Cyber Security Awareness Month’’ (NCAM). Initiated in 2004, the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a collaboration between government —the U.S. Department of Homeland Security — and private industry — the National Cyber Security Alliance, and other partners. The National Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity (safeguarding digital information) and to increase resiliency in the event of an incident. The United States President, Mr. Donald J. Trump proclaimed the October 2017 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month a while ago at the White House. The National Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign is now a global call to action. Canada, Europe and other countries have joined the fray. Africa, nay, Nigeria must take a cue.

SERIES: BUHARISM AND THE SWIFT URGENCY OF NOW

In the face of the current high crime rate of all sorts ravaging every nook and cranny of the Nigerian State, it's very shocking to know what preoccupies the small mind of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris of the national police is not how to combat all these by partnering with all the communities in Nigeria, expanding the frontiers of crime fighters, upgrading policing in Nigeria from its primitive and antedilluvian policing to international standards of effective policing, befitting a multicultural, multi-lingual Nigeria and making the nations's police become representative, buying state of the art policing equipmemt and gadgets, including drones and helicopters, body armours and body worn cameras for the police, building habitable barracks, having police stations that are of international standards, coming up with befitting uniforms, looking at the welfare status of the police, buying new vehicles, encouraging graduates and women to take to a career in the police service, embarking on researches, training and development, and moving the police from its current people-unfriendly/bestial/jungle-like status to a people-friendly one, etc, but to embark on an egostical ingloriousness of wanting to open a separate broadcaster for the police community in Nigeria.

Introduction

The age-long reverence for places of worship and religious leaders is increasingly eroding around the world. The unprecedented security threats to places of worship are diverse and alarming. They include: terrorist attacks, kidnapping of religious leaders and congregants, theft of relics and offerings, arson active shooter incidents, amongst others. An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area. Victims are selected at random. Event is unpredictable and evolves quickly. I will cite some incidents to buttress the fact that places of worship, religious leaders are no longer venerated nor spared by men of the underworld.
At about 8:30am on September 8, 2017, three gunmen posing as worshippers invaded St. Thomas’ Catholic Church, Onilekere, Ikeja, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria and shot the Parish Priest, Rev. Daniel Nwankwo at close range. The incident took place after the priest concluded morning Mass. In Imo state, Reverend Father Cyriacus Onunkwo was on September 1, 2017, abducted and subsequently killed in cold blood by his assailants. An police ex-corporal, Mr. Jude Madu, is one of the five suspects arrested for masterminding the abduction and killing of the priest.

Until now, until now (sobbing), Mother
In our delusion we had thought
we were protected, safe and secure
in your bossom of love.
And basking in the glory of this security
we carried on in our own very complacency
and self-confidence

...the Myanmarians must aim at being their brothers' and sisters' keepers and must learn to build an egalitarian society of fraternal proximity, where faith, ethnic nationality, creed, philosophy, ideology, colour of one's skin do not matter, but what really does matter is that they are all Burmese and human beings or they will perish like fools.

On a joint interview broadcasted on Sunday with French media - RFI, TV5 World, and the daily Le Monde – conducted in the Chadian capital N’Djamena - the Chadian president Idriss Déby Into has warned that Chad “will be in the obligation to withdraw military operations in Africa if nothing is done” to assist financially the countries which are going through a severe social and economic crisis, referring to the 1,400 Chadian soldiers serving with the UN’s MINUSMA force.

PART 14

"Since 1914 the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in their backgrounds,in their religious beliefs and customs and do not show themselves any signs of willingness to unite.Nigeria unity is only a British invention"-Alhaji Tafawa Belewa.

THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF CULTURAL, LINGUISTIC, RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL HOMOGENEITY OF A NATION STATE

LIKE CATTLE EGRETS AND COWS...A TOAST TO NIGERIAN UNITY AND BROTHERHOOD

Psalm 133

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Never in the history of all polities and democracies had a party so enjoyed a 100% goodwill as the APC did, whilst campaigning  and on actually capturing power, but gone ahead to squander it on the altars of complacency, incurable crass insensitivity, divisiveness, authoritarianism, politcal aggrandizement, vendetta, grandiose greed/avarice, nepotism, regionalism, stupendous corruption, favouritism, hereditary privilege, religious bigotry, violence to national psyche and actual blood-lettings, cultural ethnocentrism and imperialism.

Our Aims

  • To expose all levels of corruption in Nigeria, especially official corruption and by so doing ensure probity and accountability in every sphere of the Nigerian life.
  • To within the body politic stir up the spirit of nationalism amongst Nigerians aimed at pushing back the tides of ethnic chauvinism, tribal jingoism, religious bigotry, oligarchism, cronyism and nepotism.
